Every year the Codemotion holds many events that are all about technology. Codemotion is an international event. In March 2018 I got the chance to travel to Amstredam and go to a Codemotion event.
History
The first codemotion was held way back in 2011. Chiara and Mara organized together a super cool tech event in Rome: the JavaDay, which later became Codemotion. In 2012, only a year later Codemotion has already spread to Madrid, Spain. On 2013 Chiara and Mara made Codemotion into a startup and as for 2017 they had investment round for 1.5 Million Euros to offer better experiences to the developers.
Codemotion has some really cool sponsers too and they vary for different events

2018
This year I got to go to the event – it was amazing! The event was a 2 day event that started around 8 a.m. and ended around 5 p.m.. There were many great lectures in that day. Each hour there were about 7 lectures in parallel – amazing that they can even find so many speakers! Most of the lectures were about blockchains. I am sure that everyone can agree that blockchains are really the hot topic of the last year and probably will be in the next year. For these of you who don’t know what blockchains are, I will alborate about them in the next paragraph. The event also had special workshops which was cool too! What I really liked about this event is that the event was for all levels programmers – rather you are a beginer or an expret, and such events are really hard to throw. During the event we got lunch and there were also sponsers booth that you could visit inbetween lectures.
Sponsers
In this year there were also great sponsers. Just to name a few: Wix, ING and Cisco. They all had stand outside the lecturing halls. They told us about their companies (and even some of them gave a lecture) and gave all sort of freebiz – awesome.
About Blockchains
As I promised, I will write more about blockchains. Blockchains are “a growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data (generally represented as a merkle tree root hash). Blockchain was invented by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 to serve as the public transaction ledger of the cryptocurrency bitcoin. The invention of the blockchain for bitcoin made it the first digital currency to solve the double-spending problem without the need of a trusted authority or central server. The bitcoin design has inspired other applications, and blockchains which are readable by the public are widely used by cryptocurrencies. Private blockchains have been proposed for business use. Sources such as the Computerworld called the marketing of such blockchains without a proper security model “snake oil”.” (Wikipedia).
Amstredam
The Codemotion I attended was in Amsterdam, so as part of the conference I also got to walk around the city. Wow, I could write an article about Amsterdam alone – it was AMAZiNG! I never thought I could enjoy a city this much. I saw everything I could (as time allowed me) – from the amazing museums to eating tasty stroopwafel – don’t worry Amsterdam, I will be back soon!

To conclude
This event was one of my favorite events of the year! I do wish all developers could attend it. I myself can surely say I just cannot wait until the 12th of November, where I’ll be attending Codemotion Berlin!
Codemotion holds such great event, wish I can attend the Berlin one as well!
